In 2008, NBLSA will celebrate it’s 40th Birthday. Appropriately, the National Theme for the 2007-2008 school term is “40 Years of Inseverable History.” The Midwest Region added on to this theme the motto, “Embracing the Past to Ensure the Future.” The Regional Board reviewed NBLSA’s past accomplishments and endeavors for inspiration and guidance. NBLSA had previously produced a legal publication, and from this the idea of a regional law journal was birthed.
The Journal was instituted by Terrence Thompson, the Midwest Regional Chair of the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA), to provide an alternative forum for students and professionals to write and publish academic works. Members of the Midwest Region will also gain valuable journal experience through participation on the Journal. As Editor-In-Chief, I am committed to producing a publication that will feature sound legal scholarship reflecting regional and national issues that affect society at large. Our goal is to publish unique articles that facilitate social awareness of current legal, political, and social issues.
Thank you for your interest in our publication,

Karissa M.W. Holmes
Editor-In-Chief, The Midwest BLSA Law Journal
